What is a Fundamental Deist?

Traditional deism holds that God created the universe and established rational, understandable natural laws, but does not intervene in human affairs through miracles, revelation, or divine instruction.

Fundamental Deism begins with more humility. There may be a supreme being we could call God, or there may not be. That question is ultimately unknowable. What we can say is that there was a Creator, whatever that means, but its nature, identity, purpose, or awareness of us is also unknowable. The Creator does not intervene in human affairs. It does not answer prayers, suspend nature, reveal commandments, or tell us how to live. The only laws it left behind are the physical laws that emerge from the four fundamental forces of nature: gravity, electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force.

The word “Fundamental” has two meanings here.

First, it refers to what the Creator created: the four fundamental forces that shaped the universe and allowed everything else to form, including stars, planets, life, dark matter, and dark energy. Much of this remains mysterious, but mystery is not a license to invent certainty.

Second, it refers to our guiding fundamentals: Facts, Logic, Knowledge, and Reason. These are how we separate truth from belief, evidence from tradition, and honest uncertainty from superstition.

We do not hold meetings. We do not need a building, a pulpit, or someone claiming to know what God wants from us. This website and forum are enough to share ideas, question assumptions, and develop better ones. We will never pass the plate. Donations are welcome if something here has helped you or made you think, but they will not save your soul, improve your afterlife accommodations, or earn favor with the Creator. They will just help keep the servers running.

This website is simply not meant for you. Rather, this site is for those who aren't quite comfortable with any other religion and are looking for another ideology that better suits their beliefs.
